We offer...

Autobelay
Autobelay, or automatic belay devices, make it possible to climb without a belay partner. Rana Klatresenter has 14 autobelay devices. Anyone can use autobelay, and you don't need a belay card. Training is provided during the first visit through a video, but feel free to contact our staff if you have any questions.
Bouldering
Bouldering is climbing on lower walls without a rope over a thick crash mat. Anyone can boulder, both children and adults. Bouldering requires no prior knowledge, and the only equipment you need is a pair of climbing shoes. In our gym, you'll find bouldering on all three floors.
Rope Climbing
We have 10- and 15-meter high walls where you can climb on top rope and lead. To belay others, you need a Brattkort (Lead Climbing Card) or Topptaukort (Top Rope Card). We regularly offer Brattkort/Topptaukort courses that you can sign up for. Dates and times for courses and exams will be posten on our website under the "courses" tab or on our Facebook and Instagram pages.
Children's Corner
Children can climb ropes and boulder throughout the center, but we also have a dedicated children's corner consisting of roped walls and bouldering walls tailored to the little ones.
Training Area
In our climbing gym, you'll find a dedicated area with various types of hangboards, in addition to a campus board, a spray wall, and a Kilterboard.
Kilterboard
A Kilterboard is an adjustable bouldering wall where you can change the wall angle and bouldering problems as you like. The wall can be adjusted from 15 to 60 degrees overhang, and there are thousands of problems to choose from. You control this through the screens on the wall or via the Kilter app.
LED-wall
In the middle of the center, a 12-meter high LED wall lights up. This is a wall where the holds are not changed but are illuminated by LED lights showing the climbing route. You can switch routes and choose the route you want to climb using a screen next to the wall or through an app. (Note: this function is not operational yet). On this wall, it is only possible to climb on autobelay.

Frequently Asked Questions

You don’t need any previous climbing experience to climb with us! We provide the necessary training the first time you visit us through a detailed video, allowing you to climb on the roped walls with autobelay and on our bouldering walls. Others with a Brattkort can belay you, so you can also climb with a rope without having a Brattkort yourself.

To belay others, you need a Brattkort or Topptaukort. We regularly conduct courses that you can sign up for.

Climbing is for everyone, regardless of age. It is also a very nice and social activity for the whole family. Read more about climbing with children here

You don’t need to be a member of the club (Gruben IL Klatring) to climb with us. Everyone can purchase day passes, punch cards, and our various monthly/yearly passes without being a club member. However, club membership provides some discount benefits on yearly and half-year passes. See the “Prices” tab for more information.

Adults over 18 years old who are accompanying children under 13 years old, but not belaying or climbing themselves, do not need to pay an entrance fee. However, everyone in the center must register at the reception, read, and sign the safety rules before entering the center.

Most people prefer to wear flexible clothing. Workout attire also works well. If you’re renting climbing shoes from us, you need to wear socks with them. We recommend trimming your nails and removing your rings before climbing.

This varies from person to person, but most people feel tired and satisfied after 1-2.5 hours. Some like long breaks, so it might take longer. You can stay as long as you want within the opening hours.

You don’t need to have your own equipment; we have equipment available for loan at the reception. Here, you can rent harnesses in all sizes, and we also have full-body harnesses for the smallest children and for adults. You can also rent climbing shoes and belay devices from us.

We are constantly expanding our small climbing shop and currently have a limited selection of chalk bags, chalk, and tape for sale at the reception.

Bouldering is a type of climbing performed at low heights without a rope. The climber attempts to solve boulder problems (routes) on the wall using strength, technique, and agility. Thick mattresses are placed under the wall to cushion falls.

Klatreren forsøker å løse buldreproblemer (ruter) på veggen ved hjelp av styrke, teknikk og smidighet.

Tykke madrasser ligger under veggen for å dempe fall.

Top-rope climbing is a form of climbing where the climber is secured from the top of the route. A rope is attached to the climber’s harness and goes up to an anchor at the top of the wall, ensuring safety. A partner on the ground holds the rope and secures by taking in the rope as the climber moves up the wall.

Lead climbing is a type of climbing where the climber takes the rope with them up the wall, attaching it to carabiners along the climbing route. In addition to climbing, the climber clips the rope into the protection points to protect against falls. The partner on the ground secures the climber by paying out the rope as the climber ascends.

Autobelay is a safety device used in climbing centers for climbing on high walls. An autobelay is an automatic mechanism that takes in the rope as the climber ascends and gently lowers you back down when you fall or let go of the wall. This allows the climber to climb alone without the need for a belay partner.
